A New Year

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

So it's 2010. The future... how did last year end, you ask?

Coco consoled herself through the tail end of 2009, in her special spot.

She is an expert at pretending I am not there.

I continued to learn how to control the temperature on our skillet. I'm getting better, slowly.

I found a recipe online for replicating that ginger-based dressing that you get on salads at Japanese Sushi restaurants.

It's the right color!

Ta-da!

Lisa made many cupcakes for the holidays.

And of course, we had a sizable snowfall.

After digging out, I walked down the street to Mueller's and got some supplies.

Our street was a mess for days.

As the snow melted, we got nice icicles...

and snow dams! Luckily it lasted a day or so before sluffing off.

While it was snowing like crazy (and we were immobile), Lisa discovered a leak that was traveling to the washer and dryer electrical outlet in the basement. We traced it up to the kitchen sink, where the ancient faucet appeared to be sweating underneath the sink itself. We replaced it with this sexy little number, which raised the spigot high enough to fill pitchers.

And even the canning pot!

I painted/modified a painting for Lisa, for Christmas.

It hangs in the stairwell, which we will paint after a few other rooms.

It's pretty fun.

For Christmas dinner on the 25th, we went with the Wynn's to Joey Chiu's!

They have the best Won Ton soup I have ever tasted. Look how dark that broth is.

Lisa and Jane got the fried duck.

Tom got the orange duck! I got orange beef.

We all shared the pork fried rice.

We exchanged gifts, and were completely blown away with the paintings Jane made for us!!

Coco!

Simon!

Lisa knitted a sock!!! A SOCK WITH A HEEL AND WOW!!

For New Year's we went with the Wynn's to John and Libby's house! We played Quirkle!

It was fun on a bun!

I won. Lisa was a gracious not-winner. ;)

Hey 2010!

Happy New Year!

So now it's January and COLD, and I'm growing a beard for the hell of it. So far, sparse-going. Just like last time.
