Hey kids! It's 3:30 am - and I just got back from Prop party
and Kaiju Big Battel™ in Philly!!! Here's the highlights:

Tom and I in the midst of packing his family truckster.

A few moments later, The Rocketeer was caught flying past Tom.

Then he busted some moves...

We arrived at the hotel and Jane took a picture.

I joined in the next one.

We met everyone inside and ate/relaxed.... looks like we're all in the midst
of bitching about something!

Tom remarked that our prop gatherings are exactly like the
Warhammer 40K get togethers.

We went to the bar and were horrified and amused to see the locals
boogey on down...wow. Then we went to bed.

The next day was prop party! Steve played dress 'em ups:

I took the opportunity to line up a SM PKD sculpt, three PKDII's, a C&S, and the über blaster that can fire real rounds... glorious.

We had a blast!! Thanks to Gian for hosting :D

Then Steve, Jane, Tom, and I went to Philly for the KAIJU BIG BATTEL™!!!!!!

We got rained on and ate.

Then? KAIJUUUUUUU

Fight!!

Dr. Cube! In the ring! EVIL! What a fantastic time... bedtime!

Another Friday night, spent recovering from a root canal and crown fitting! I'm on a synthetic opiate, and am feeling mooshy. Here I am showing off my friend's sculpt of Trinity from The Matrix... I'm going to modify it for a Maschinen Krieger 1/6th scale space suit. Hooray!

Here is my strobe light assembly that I have to somehow cram into the new Blade Runner "concept" gun I'm building! More pics of that sucker later.

Lovely Lisa is coming over tomorrow! Listening to the new Liz Phair by the way - It is so unashamadly pop, it's kinda freaky... I hope she gets what she want to out of this whole "new sound" she has. Fave song so far? "Little Digger". That may change when I am more coherent. Hell, I ate a small bowl of chocolate ice cream earlier and it was almost as good as sex... so I think I'm an easy critic right now. Damn maraschino cherries are good. Ooookay - now Liz is singing about how "you" are just like her favorite underwear. Am I that high? Or are these lyrics actually this insipid?! AHahaa Paul is apparently on the guest list for some secret Radiohead show in December.. those NYC kids get all dem breaks, I tells ya! There is a Yorke on every street corner. Yay Paul for hooking me up with gorgeous Mirah music! Hugs and ticklish extremities! Jason

Hey kiddos! My face is returning to normal! Tomorrow I go back to Charlottesville, this time by myself, dagnabbit. Ah well. A road trip by myself - how much you wanna bet I'll be singing at the top of my lungs to all sorts of loverly mp3s! I also spent some of my downtime watching South Park on dvd - the whole first season... I forgot how great some of those episodes are! Refrained from being so doped up Sunday so I could play with the dremel and Blade Runner Concept Pistol. So, having found the strobe guts and soldering all the wires for leds and trigger, etc, I decided to go ahead and go all the way with the "slots" on the resin body - so I further hollowed out the interior CAREFULLY... and made the area thing enough behind the slots that I could just cut 'em out with an X-Acto.

More pics as the gun comes together - all the hard stuff is pretty much behind me now! Love, Jason Song on iPod? "Some Catch Flies" by Kristin Hersh

Hey kids! Spent last night without power from 5pm till exactly midnight... ugh. I so depend on electricity it isn't funny. AC. CPAP. Mac. Lightbulbs. DVD. yeesh. Took a few spooky fun pics with the flashlight, hehe.

And to update the BR gun, here's a pic of the strobe deelie I installed in the "barrel" area:

Lisa is coming over Saturday, and we will have fun! Gonna go see Finding Nemo in digital. My mom turns 50-something-or-other on Sunday, so we'll take her to India's :) Song on iPod? "You're The Good Things" by Modest Mouse Hugs, Jason

Monday, June 16th, 2003

Hey kids! Great weekend! Friday night I made things, and cleaned my livin' space... got a lot done on the latest diversion, a studio scale X-Wing. This is a couple of feet long - and is made from all the original materials that the filming miniatures used during the production of Star Wars in 1976. I'll have more pics to share tonight/tomorrow - but for now, here's a 2.6 meg movie of the twinkling lights I installed in the engines: http://roboterkampf.com/flicker.mov I'm also slowly working on my new website - www.roboterkampf.com All I have up at the moment is a banner - but I'm learning new html tricks, which are fun fun fun! Saturday the lovely elegant Lisa came over and we watched Star Wars (WHICH SHE HAD NEVER SEEN)... we were going to go see Finding Nemo, but the lines were too long. Did eat Chick-Fil-A though, yayyy! Sunday Lisa and I did get to see Finding Nemo digitally at 12:30! Then we went to India's in Annapolis for my mom's birthday. I had Murgh Tikka. Yummah! Lisa went home around 5, and my brothers and I watched the unrated version of Old School - there was more Andy Dick giving blowjob lessons in this version, hehe. There may have been more nipples too - I'm not sure. Haha. Regardless, an awesome film. Then I had a minor problem with the light rig on the X-Wing, which meant I had to tear a wing assembly off (GODDAMMIT!!) to fix... but by bedtime, it was all better - and slightly further along than it was on Friday. So - on the bench I have:

X-Wing lit studio scale model
Blade Runner concept blaster with lights
MaK Fliege
MaK Raccoon Diorama
Alien Nostromo Crew Pistol prop

God, I'm such a geek. Anyway, back to the list: BMW FlY¨gelrad III German "UFO" Sänger German Orbital Bomber and the huge Me262. Damn, I need to finish that 262. A lotta stuff in flux lately... plus, I am going to go back and rework a few weathering techniques on older builds... keeping busy and happy! Heeeee. Song on iPod? Tuesday, June 17, 2003

I'm currently at work importing video and listening to songs I got into in late 1993/early 1994... Cub, Tiger Trap, Heavenly, etc... indiepop/cuddle core/twee.

Saw Hester (you-know-who) P. and Captain Sissy (hehe - code names) at Rockport last night looking at the scooter in the window - resisted the urge to "put a bullet in 'em", lol. Not worth my time, and the rage subsided quickly. Lisa says it's kinda normal to still want to see them suffer immeasurably (I may be paraphrasing, lol) but what I really want is to feel nothing - to not have them matter. I suppose feeling severe disgust mixed with sheer searing hatred is better than regret or yearning, yes? I just hope it rains in Nantucket at the very least this Saturday. I take solace in the fact that I am now unfettered by a soul sucking, creative-black hole, lactose intolerant bitch that no one liked. And that all I have to do to exact my sweet revenge is nothing - she'll temporarily destroy his life eventually like she temporarily destroyed mine... Fancy Lad, if you're reading, you have about 3 years left - she's only good for 5 per man (or woman, heee!)... and if you are indeed reading, I wish Karma to visit upon the both of you what you caused to me tenfold. You deserve to fucking die, spiritually. Assclowns.

Funny enough - and I'm still trying to figure this out - Andy Partridge's songs immediately make me feel calm... just started getting worked up as I wrote my rant above - and "Dame Fortune" came on the iPod - and I felt calmer... I leaned heavily on the XTC catalog of songs when Slutty McCheater did her number on me, so I suppose I have a positive association with that sound/voice. Also, he sings a lot about his crumbling marriage and eventual rebirth, so I suppose I feel a vague connection or kinship with the material. All I know is I feel better for venting and humming along.

Bottom line - I refuse to become bitter. I refuse to let the actions of one deceitful and weak individual destroy my ability to laugh or love. And honestly, even though I'm "behind" on where I would have been for someone married 5 years ago, I love love love who and what I am today, and feel like I was "muted" from 1997 to 2001...

Haha - Frente's "Paper, Bullets, Walls" is on now. What a fun band they were for that one brilliant ep.
I think the modelmaking is an extension of an escape I built into my life during the dark days of school, work, and the ex. I had an environment I could have god-like control over, with black and white rules. Escapism, baybee.

There is also a direct correlation to that undying "thread" that was sewn into my being at the age of 5, seeing those production stills from ILM/Star Wars. I so wanted to be the guys blowing up Death Star tiles in the backlot parking lot, and running the motion control rig. I get such happiness from seeing some hairbrained series of wires and lights come alive in my hands, or some bits of hand-poured resin become a space ship... my grandfather was a big-time modeller too, and my grandmother said I do the little "tongue out of the side of my mouth when I'm concentrating really hard" that he used to do. Neat.

Also, I heard modest cottages in Eastport can be had for around $200,000 which will be quite doable in the next few years for me. That's all I really want - a detached single family home near or in Annapolis, close to work (hopefully Scooterable) with a small but cute yard. I like pre-50s construction, and want to do the repairs myself - I have quirky weird ideas for decor anyway.

Sorry this entry started off so negatively - so not like me, really.

Hey kids.
Here's the next "see what electronics crap I can cram into Mr. Morgan's excellent sculpts"... the Alien Nostromo sidearm from 1978/9:

I gutted the Enterprise Phase Pistol toy.... the leds that illuminated the energy cell now light up the singlepoint tip:

Then I said "you're a dork, Jane!" and then she made this face:

Hahaha! Kidding! When we left, the sky was gorgeous. Being the stellar photographer that I am, the sky got overexposed or something. I could do a little photoshoppery, but tonight I'm tired.
