I'm really tired
Monday, May 2nd, 2005

I'm so sleepy - I feel dizzy. I hate people who cannot park their giant lumbering 'tardmobiles. He was WAY more crooked than this pic makes it out to be. Whatever. Tomorrow is a do-over :)
Song on iTunes? Sleepwalking by Modest Mouse.
It BURNS!
Wednesday, May 4th, 2005
So what happens when the bit catches a sidewall as you try to bore out a plastic radial finned cylinder on a drill press? Deep friction burns and dead skin!

I was holding the part VERY tightly with my thumb and forefinger as I eased the bit down into the pre-existing hole (that I was trying to enlarge). The bit caught the plastic and the entire part began spinning at a fantastic rate. In the instant that it took for my fingers to let go, I received severe friction burns from the fins. Hurt like you would not believe! The black residue is how superheated plastic says "I love you".

The offending piece.

Today there are wee blisters, and the stripes are super sensitive to heat.

Mr. Thumb wanted in on the action!

Silly shoes ease the pain.

And the third wave of Maschinen Krieger Kubricks say "hi!".

Sorry I'm Mr. LateUpdate™ again... Here's pics of Amber's lovely wedding from two weeks ago!

The church where the ceremony took place:

And a pic that Lisa took of yours truly that really underscores my love of candy.

Last weekend, Lisa was visited by a Toe-person. I believe this is the one that went to market, right?

Her other foot revealed a terrible sight - a mini baby bunny - squished!!!

Aaron at work today receive something very cool:

I saw Star Wars last week... can you believe it?! Two weeks early! I liked it better than ROTJ, so I am relieved that the new film was something that felt like Star Wars. Finally.
Kittens, spaceships, loss
Tuesday, May 24th, 2005
A lot has happened in the last two weeks and I'll have pics of it all tomorrow, promise. Lisa got an adorable kitten, I saw Star Wars again - but this time for the midnight premiere, got a lot done with freelance, had a hard drive fail at work (but didn't lose data), but the thing that I'm still coming to grips with is the death of my friend Jordan Selvage. He was a very active member in the online prop hobby I have, and he was someone I talked to on IM every single day. He died on the 18th when a 20 year old girl driving a minivan ran a red light and pushed his car into a utility pole, in Toledo Ohio, where he lived.
Part of me is so frozen in frustration and anger when I think of how his life was cut short. He was only 28. He had only lived a third of his life. He died the day before Episode III - which is all he talked about (along with the rest of us) for months. He was close to paying off a screen-used Necromonger suit from Chronicles of Riddick. I was getting ready to build his custom Blade Runner gun and he was excited to see it all assembled...
The other part of me is reveling in the good experiences, and taking solace in the shared memories we all have of him. I don't tend to dwell on the negatives of anything, and I think that Jordan would appreciate the outporing of kindness in our little online community as of late. I was thrilled that he loved the music I sent him - Sondre Lerche and Regina Spektor in particular. I will also be forever grateful at his invaluable help in his vast knowledge of Buffy the Vampire Slayer... he really came through with screencaps and general tips when I was doing Buffy Freelance stuff. My IM window looks very empty without him, and part of me feels like he'll pop up any second with a funny link or general chit-chat.
So everyone please say a prayer for his family, who must be going through hell.
Here's a great photo of Jordan I took from the last prop party (there is an ECPP link in the left-hand menu). Apparently he hated having his picture taken, so it's funny that he humored me when I said "This is like the suit your buying? Well stand there like you own it!"
... with a slight smirk, he posed.
I'll miss you Jordan. With much love and affection, Jason
Meet Coco!

Here's Coco! Adorable kitten!! As I type this, Lisa is probably cuddling her now. Dammit. I wanna play too!

Here's me and my prop from Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy - POW!

Lambtron sleeping with Simon!! ADORABLE! He has never done that much hardcore cuddling with anyone but me... it's a sign.

Brad (with eyeball bottlecaps) and Aaron, in my office from last week!

My INSANE rare model kit haul from Japan... All I can say is Domo to Goto-san, yeah!

Here I am pimping the MR shirt at the Star Wars premiere.

Trashcan Artoo and Chewie were there - yay!

Gregg takes an interest in Jonathan's Dragon toy.

Dan and Dana at the LoMacchio house from last Friday (where I popped in for dinner), where Dana pulled out all those old mix tapes I made for her. Literally ten years ago. Ahhh, the days before I had access to computers...

Probably the best of the bunch - handmade papers, meticulous attention to detail and rubber stamping made this cover stand out. GREAT playlist too.

This was the first tape I made for Dana, back in 1993-4. It's a comp of all those Freak Beans shows I recorded. Cover has a mini reproduction of a show flyer I made (yeah, I was a frustrated package designer all through high school and college).

Another tape - this one just a mix. I also remember making this one, and putting my face over the sign the nude woman was holding.

A Tori tape I made to get Dana hooked. I was like a music pimp - trying to get the listeners hooked on particular bands... hehehe.
TweeTweeTwee AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHGGGGHHH

So a mama bird made a nest in the space between my AC Window Unit and the window brace... baby birds are LOUD when the only thing seperating the nest from your model desk is a thin swath of insulating foam, lol. Click the pic above to see a 'lil movie I made.

Mama Bird. Majestic. Round.

The nest does it's best to look like the Murmur album cover.

It's side entrance is slightly angled towards the AC, and is a little over six feet off the ground.

In other news, some total FUCKS egged our cars the night before last, and even though I washed it all off my less-than-a-year-old car (and was then late for work), it still managed to eat clear through to the primer in one spot on the door. Thus, my car's cherry was spectacularly popped. Fuck you, vandals. Fuck you.

Simon asked me (after midnight, no less!) if he and I could pose for some portraits. How can I deny him?

This was our hooligan shot.

He then took a bath. Sissy.
