Married, happy, industrious, and addicted to Lost
Thursday, October 6th, 2005

Lisa and I were super-happily married last Saturday! Here are some candids shot by friends to tide you over until I get the professional pics and make a dedicated page :)

Our cake from Charm City Cakes - thanks to Duff and Willie - truly magnificent.

Our table settings...

We're so happy that everything turned out so well!!

Docmani himself shows that he has what it takes to make it as a dancer.

Uncle Marvin enjoys the bellydancer :)

I was forced to participate in Toni's routine... so I made the best of it.

Jonathan and Clara danced as if they truly had ants encased within their pants.

More soon - I promise.

So this week, Lisa and I have been unpacking, relaxing, and smooching. I decided that I could very well make myself miserable by ripping up the carpet in the back room. This will be my prop room and I wanted to make it luxe.

I ripped up the carpet and padding... dirty stuff.

I then had to scrape up the disintegrated padding material and remove the billions of carpet staples.

It was revealed that this used to be TWO rooms with a hall/two closets - see the outline of where the walls were? This meant that I had to make sure I sanded the floor down enough to match the original raw wood. Fuck.

Dirty crappy ass poop. 12' x 24' of it.

The next day, I rented the heaviest machine ever made by man. Forged by Vulcan himself, from the heaviest metals available... I present to you, dear reader, the drum sander.

I was ready to rock. Eye protection, respiratory protection, and ear protection!

A full day later...

I wanted to sleep for 1,000 years.

This is only a fraction of the trash that I have gathered. Poor garbage men.

I also replaced the wall lights with something cooler. Bzzzzzzt!

Tape the walls/doors/windows for paint - subtract two hours. Do not pass go.

BREAK TIME! Watch three dvds of Lost and go to DC for the day!

Lisa - those pink things are furry!

Our new home. ;)

Delicious art.

Everywhere you look!

Always gathering ideas for the house....

Speaking of - I got the Airport Express working, so I can rock out to the basement computer library of sounds from the "prop room" or laptop...

It's pretty amazing... and ALL my music is available at the push of a button.

This is the "Satellite Jammer" (my cute name - the Airport Basestation is named "Mothership") . This is also a preview of the color of the walls in the new room. More on Tuesday!

Looove, Jason

All caught up on Lost!
Friday, October 14th, 2005

Hey eveybuddah! Another hectic week starts winding up. Lisa and I have been slowly adjusting to going back to work, and dealing with everything in it's still-packed state. I haven't been able to really start unpacking yet because of a strict deadline to get a model done in time for some Toy Fair thing in a few weeks, painting the walls, replacing the light fixtures, watching every episode of Lost, and we haven't been able to polyurethane the floor yet because it's been raining non-stop for a week. So I feel a little frustration, but next week will ease up a little. Hope to poly the floor Sunday, and move the furniture in Wednesday night in time for my gigantic TV. More on THAT next week.

Roll over the picture to see what it looks like as of this morning. Sorry for the dreary shot - it's raining outside.

I also replaced the outlet covers with shiny chrome. Mmm, sillllllver.

This weekend I finish the model, and we'll spend Saturday night with the Wynns, as is our way :)

Song on iTunes? "Wuthering Heights" as covered by The Decemberists!

The house smells like dizzy.
Monday, October 17th, 2005

This weekend was lovely. Went to Annapolis with the Wynns and did our routine, heh. I parked in between two cars that were almost the same shade of metallic grey that mine is - so Jane jumped in the pic!

I finally finished the floor in the back room. It rained for over a week, so I had to wait for some less-humid weather. This pic below was taken with my hand stretching into the room, through the plastic barrier (since it was still wet last night). The house was WAVY with fumes from this stuff, too - I was very dizzy last night, and today I have a stuffed up nose, grrrr.

It should be safe to walk on today, and safe to move furniture in on Thursday. Probably Wednesday, but I want to play it safe. Our bed and couch arrives on Saturday, so by Sunday, we'll have a MUCH more "put together" house to live in. Yes!! We are so excited about this, because this is what we look like when we think about sleeping on the futon on the floor, surrounded by boxes.

So in the next few weeks, we'll have amazing updates full of professional wedding pictures, house pics, and more Roboterkampf stuff! We'll get our lives back - bigger and better!

So tired that I feel weightless

So a bunch of friends and I were chatting recently about our fetishisticness when it comes to keeping our "sexy technology" clean. I remarked that my poor poor Powerbook gets banged around - it is dented, scratched, dirty, etc. Some nerd I am, eh? So without further ado I present to you, dear reader, my secret shame:

First up we have the "A" and "S" keys. For some reason, the silver effect has completely worn off. Two theories on this one - I'm a hunter and pecker - I don't type (I never learned). So though I am exceptionally proficient at hunting and pecking, I have weird habits. One of these is to rest my thumbs on weird keys - maybe it's friction from this odd way of typing? The other theory I have is that I had some solvent on a finger, and typed something one late night while painting....

Dents along the top of the case lid. No idea how I did this one. Bear in mind that this computer follows me everywhere - work, room to room, airplanes, etc etc, and has done so for over a year now.

The finish is pitted and patina-ed. I like this since it adds some character, arrrr.

I somehow dented the crap out of the side, along the battery housing. This pic shows the newer battery and the seam where it matches up with the computer itself - I bent the metal back to almost straight, but you can see how it's uneven. The battery (sadly unavailable at the time these pictures were taken) is crazy-dented.

Scratches...

Scratches...

This is kind of cool. The battery locking screw is shedding it's protective clearcoat. Hah!

Scratches.

Nicks.

Me!

And finally, we have the small bead of Cyanoacrylate (crazy) Glue on the "Home" key. I think I probably have managed to get Crazy Glue onto everything I own, including my cat. Poor Simon!

What a desolate place this is!

My giant robot project will start sometime in the next 6 months. The first part arrived today - cast from A New Hope parts! This has direct lineage to 1976!!

A cloud of pillows
Monday, October 24th, 2005

Well, we accepted delivery of our furniture this past weekend - we now have a grown up bed, with a headboard and a footboard and even a pillowtopper. I feel like I'm staying in a luxe hotel every time I lay down, and it was incredibly hard to get out of bed this morning. Spent a lovely weekend with the Wynns and hung with my ma, who made me belated birthday steak!

We sent our first mortgage payment, Comcast, BGE, and the extra $175 that the car insurance now costs me, because I technically live in Baltimore City. Fuckers.

Tom and Jane bought a Stella, which makes me miss my 'lil Metro. The Stella kicks its ass, though. Scooters are so much fun - and I think I enjoy the Stella's manual shifting more than the automatic Met! PS - see that pic? Don't try doing wheelies on a scooter - ouch!

Here's one more pic before I go - this is what my passenger seat looked like this morning. Those green fuzzies are what Lisa's delightfully soft sweater left behind! Ahaha!

It's like Christmas... wrapped inside delicious bacon!

The back room is really starting to come together!

How embarassing that the majority of my huge boxes say "Star Wars" on them.

A sea of glittering movie props. Mmmm.

Today is Friday, and thank god. This weekend Lamby and I will get our bedroom set delivered, along with a couch. Tonight we will eat delicious Panera and get a few things from Ikea. We eat Chevy's tomorrow with the Wynns, and I'll pick some more stuff up from my mom's house. The new gigantor TV might even arrive by Halloween - wow!

Playing with the (giant) Queen of Hearts

I helped our clinical director's daughter with her Halloween costume yesterday. DId I mention that I love our scanner and poster printer?

Also working on the "prop room" in anticipation of getting the big bad TV - and so that we can do the rest of the house!

Most of my models and props are starting to decide where they want to live. It's an ongoing process, so don't consider these pics final - more of a work in prgress... Yay!

For example - I'll eventually have Proton Packs and Rocketpacks....

Halloween, yayyy!
Monday, October 31st, 2005

Tom and Jane come over tonight to celebrate Halloween - yay! We hung out this weekend and went to a party. The Halloween page will be updated tomorrow, once I get pics from tonight. I had a late start today because my GIANT TV got delivered! I'll have Tom help me get it on the stand tonight. Swoon!

Here is the prop room as of this morning - poor old puny TV is waiting to go the the basement.

Models! Props! Rug pushed to the side to make way for TV!

There she is - in sexy profile. It will live on the stand in the background...

This one, here!

It's killing me... just sitting there.

Here's the coffee table - Firefly gun will be painted soon.

I... can't... stop... taking... pictures...

It's so big the lens distorts it - oooh yeaaaah.
