It's 2006 - I have a cold
Tuesday, January 3rd, 2006
Lisa and I are back to work, and getting over our respective colds. I seem to have gotten mine a few days after she did...

Between Christmas and New Years, Mike, Steve, and Gian hung out with the Eatons and the Wynns! A lot of cringe-inducing discussions about Godzilla and tanks ensued... nerd alert! I miss 'em already.

On New Years, the Wynns came by and experienced dinner as only Lisa can provide! Chocolate fountains! Little breads with roast beef! Chicken salads! Did I mention the chocolate?!

Here I am mere millimeters from a sticky avalanche of yum.

And Jane and Tom rang in the new year with us in style!

Almost there!!

We then went outside to see how the neighbors celebrate. Oh my god. My neighborhood is full of pyromaniacs! We had full blown fireworks rocketing overhead from a block away. Up the street - flashing smoke bombs! Kids running down the street banging pots and pans yelling "happy fucking new yearrrrrrr" and what was either gunfire or firecrackers, off, in the distance.

Across the street, it was the land of a thousand crackling fountains. Up the street - flying flashing smoke bombs.
Yay Baltimore!

Finally, we spent the long weekend watching all sorts of dvds in a much clamer post-nasal-drip environment.
Tomorrow, Mookie comes for a visit! yeah!
MOOKIEEE SLEEEP
Thursday, January 5th, 2006

Señor Mookie came over last night, and Lisa and I very much enjoyed his endless cheeriness. Miss you already!

He tried on my ANH Threepio cast, as it is becoming a sort of "thing to do" when people come to visit us. The back fit fine!

But like everyone else (besides Jonathan), the front can only slide about halfway back before cheekbones bring everything to a halt. Daniels must have a slender skull! Thanks for the conversation Mookah - the visit was far too short!!

Lisa and I also received a lovely package from Riley this week, too! Inside were cookies,a mix cd, and cat toys! Got some good news and bad news, Ms. Manion. Coco the Terrible LOVED the star a little too much, and when I came home from work, I found this in the front room. She ATE the star tips, heee! Riley makes some gooood cat toys! Thank you so much, you rock.

And finally, Tom let me pose with a sample of the Aliens floor tile pattern he's working on, for Pulse Rifle rack displays.
Song in iTunes? "Deus" by the Sugarcubes.
Lost returns, and we lose a tree
Wednesday, January 11th, 2006

Yesterday morning, we awoke to a horde of men ready to rid us of the unstable and rotting tree in our back yard. It will be missed. As I was ready to leave for work, I ran upstairs to take this pic, showing the brave chainsaw-weilding tree climber man make his first cut. It wasn't even 8 am!

I'm afraid of heights, so this was pretty cool to see.

From the ground, you can see the rot reached to the very top of the tree - look at the large jagged hole in the left-most large branch/trunk.

That gash goes straight through the base of the tree...

And all they left was a ground stump-hill of spongy shavings. The air smells nice, like fresh lumber!

Our backyard looks positively huge!

Here I demonstrate how crazy spongy the majority of the wood was, and here's a time-lapse movie I shot, which can also be viewed from the movie section of my website (linked in the main banner).

So Lisa and I have taken to calling all of Coco's toys by the name Wendell, which is what I spontaneously named her mouse last week. Last night, she was playing with Wendell (which this time happened to be a large sparkly green "super" ball) so I joined in. The game was: throw Wendell into the back of the house from the front, Coco bleets and runs like hell, and trots back a few moments later, triumphantly holding Wendell in her mouth (bug eyed, to boot).
Wendell was of course thrown into the prop room. It was all me, baby. I canonly be mad at myself... so of course it veered ever so slightly to the right since it was a super ball... and the poor Wespe got it square in the fuselage.

This is what happens when super balls collide with that shitty brittle resin from the Czech Republic. Not the good tan stuff, but the "GRP" blue stuff.

Here's me in the bathroom of a rest stop on my way back from Schwenkesville PA with Docmani. Doc was not in the bathroom with me - just an fyi.
So Amber asked that I update my site - hi Amber - here's some random stuff from my files...

This is a wheel that sat inside of Lisa's 2004 Valentines Day card. She'd spin it and see the things she loved inside a little window.

This is a fake inspirational poster I made that we're dying to hang up at work.

I made this for Lisa, heh.

This is a mix tape cover I made back in 1992, for Colleen, who was kind enough to scan it and send to me. I took printmaking that semester. Self portrait, heh.

CD cover for an Eggcarton Zoo cd Tom and I gave out in 1997 or 8...

When the Blair Witch Project movie started making waves, people started looking for the house featured in the film. All that crap is local to us (Burkettsville, etc), and my brother was working for the the photo lab that the Dept of Natural Resources used, along with the crime lab. The DNR, prior to demolishing the house to deter the trespassing and vandalism, took tons of photos of the site for their archives. Anth hooked me up with all the slides and I scanned them when I worked for Theriault's. Wheee!

Loved the hand prints on the walls. Those little "stickmen" were still hanging in the trees. We should have eBayed them.

I staged this photo for the banner of the very first incarnation of jasoneaton.com back in 2001, the week I realized my cheating wife-at-the-time was never going to stop her wandering ways. I like this pic for a bunch of reasons - I DEARLY miss that green sweater I got at Target for $12. I miss the chairs and matching table I painted Chinese red and even gilded the flower designs. I kind of miss my TiBook. I was really thin because I had stopped eating for most of 2001 while miserably trying to keep things together with the ex. And finally, it's a nice reminder of how far away it all feels now, how incredibly happy and satisfied I am with my life and family, and I will never take these things and people for granted. Oh, and I love how retardedly tall my hair is.

This is the cover I made for the Choose Your Own Adventure that I STILL haven't finished. I wanted to have it done for the end of my 30th year on this 'lil planet... I'm 32 now. Shit... I need to finish this thing, it's really fun.

And finally... JUST THE TIP!
I miss you kids!

I was going through old folders on my iPod today and found this - so hello to Anthony, Crissy, and baby Maren!! We'll see you in Texas at some point soon!

Lisa and I have nothing to do this weekend. It's hot.
Old people are slow

Lisa does her impersonation of the VERY slow and VERY old lady who she was stuck behind, at the Safeway. She's all mine!
Mars Attacks!

Heya gang! It's been a CRAZY busy week, and next week will be even more intense, but in a good way. I fly out to Walnut Creek CA tomorrow for some fun work and excitement, so updates will be sporadic. Wheee!
I got a GREAT treat in the mail last night, too - a studio scale Martian War Machine from the 1950s classic, The War of the Worlds. Lights, sounds, motors - it;s going to be great!

Clear parts will be tinted green, and then light up. Cobra head will have the death ray effect, will sweep left to right, and the whole thing'll be copper.

Simon approves. Well, I guess he just wanted to sniff it...

It's freaking huge!
More soon - and go buy the new His Name is Alive "Detrola" lp on iTunes.

Flew to California today - had to get up at 4am, and almost missed my flight!

I am trying to make Jane jealous. Bathroom at 28,000 feet.

I love this sign - you just know ALL of those items have been found wedged in airplane bathroom toilets. My fave is the fork. Baby rattle, diaper, needle, bottle, razor - all plausible I guess, especialy with that changing table placed above the toilet. But who brings their buffet tray into a bathroom lav?!

We had a crapload of turbulence on the first flight (Philly to Phoenix). The second one (Phoenix to Oakland) was smooth.

No clue where this is - I was just digging the clouds.
Even took a movie!
More tomorrow!
It feels like 2 am but the clock says it's 11pm

California at 8am, near Gary's house & the video game place. Pretty!

I need a haircut. I'm sleepy. I'm full of Fuddrucker's and Outback.
Thank you Coco!

She's a 'lil helper.
