Cat Wrangling

Lisa has been hoping to get new Coco "class pictures" for a while, which brings us uncomfortably close to those freakos that have framed pics of their dogs on their desks at work. I just sit back and tell myself "hey, it's tongue in cheek - kitsch!", but really, I'm thinking "awww, Coco is so fucking cute". So yeah, I guess we're those people. Deal with it.
Sadly, Coco did not want to "deal with" anything yesterday, and though in a rare fit of domestication, she allowed me to scoop her up, she didn't want to sit still for pictures. Maybe it was because I took her right up to the room where we have all the photo gear, closed the door, and switched on the three hot sun-like bulbs, while placing her into the center of it all? She seemed distracted, so what you see represents the best of the 10 minute "shoot".

"Hey whats that over there?"

"Hey, I'm not done looking over there"

"Holy balls what is THAT doing here?"

I finished my evening with some quality Time Machine building.

Tonight - Lisa and I get more strawberries. MMmmmmmmmmm.
I can watch for hours...

Jonathan took me to see Rasputina last night, as an early birthday present - it was wonderful! We waited outside the Ottobar for about 20 minutes.

I played with my new camera.

Melora was her usual witty and sarcastic self.

Rusty the Skatemaker was played as a solo encore!

Sarah, the new second chair, was rock solid.

And Jonathon (the drummer, not my brother) sang harmonies, and the spoken word parts.

The crowd was bonkers, with a lot of dancing.

Melora smiling like a deranged maniac.
Click here for a movie to get a really low-fi sample of "Choose Me for Champion" where you can hear the loud AC unit.

The opening act was My Brightest Diamond, performing solo. She was fantastic, and played this last night for us, as well.
Catsup!

Wow - the whole month seems to have slipped past me! It's been a busy couple of weeks, wrapping up the Tokyo Wonderfest orders and data, and getting all my house projects back on track... Here's what happened in my camera since Rasputina!

Lisa and I watched the Wynn's kitties for a week while they were away in AZ teaching. Virgil is adorable!

He's slightly anti-social, and has specific places where he feels safe...

I noodled around with the Gaianotes paints that Kow Yokoyama formulated (both in color and texture) - interesting paint!

While I waited for Time Machine puttied parts to cure, I shot the Moonliner with primer and the Escape Pod with base color.

The Berserker will eventually be set inside a shadowboxed frame - I skinned the inside with sheet styrene, and am building the ground up with Apoxie Sculpt. Beneath the ground area is a pocket for the batteries that drive the leds in the green eye.

Moonliner, Romulan Warbird, and Super Star Destroyer parts all wait patiently.

As does this sucker - the 1/20th Ma.K. Camel!
Besides that stuff, Lisa beat me at Scrabble, Jeff took us out to a Japanese Steakhouse, and I made a nice two part mold with Oomoo.
