Almost there...

Monday, July 14th, 2008

Hey gang! In two short days, Jeff and I will be driving the ten hours to the US Wonderfest!

So what has been happeining during these frantic weeks filled with preparation for the US and Japanese 'fests?

Faux finishing resin to look like metal, for a buddy's table sample.

Rain storms that have amazingly short durations, but pack a hell of a whallop. Summer thunder. Awesome.

Poisioning the local ants with borax and sugar. Sorry fellas, but until you help pay the mortgage, I kill you.

Coco acted demure.

More tomorrow...

Wonderfest Day 1

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

Be sure to check the Twitter updates to you rleft! Real-time micro updates! So it's a little past 4am... packed and ready to head to Louisville KY.

Wonderfest Day 1.5

Thursday, July 17th,2008 (still)

Well, we are here safe and sound. I am rooming with Greg (aka Jadesdarkheart), and we are all going to see BATMAN tomorrow!

Cumberrrlaaaaand gaaaaap!

Lots of mountains in WV.

Models arrived safely.

Millennium Falcon and churches.

Seriously - where is North Haverbrook? Ogdenville?

Keeping an eye on the trailer.

Our hotel is a freakin' dive. Check out the elegance. One lone horse...

Greg, seeing if it wants to go for a "walk" to "one of our suitcases". Sadly, he wants to stay put.

For now.

Wonderfest Day 2

Friday, July 18th,2008

We loaded in today - gonna get some rest for the big show today. So the hotel...

Interesting statuary. Little boys urinating on water wheels.

Roller coaster in the distance.

Crazy-ass architecture. Did Trelane or Liberacé design this place?

But this is the best. Broken glass and a peach margarita mix jug (that appears to be full) on our ledge. I guess it fell from a window above?

One of the larger rooms at the convention center.

Dealer room, ready for tomorrow.

Sean's Galactica with other rag tag ships. This thing is awe-inspiring... it's tremendous.

Temporarily gluing on the front mount cap.

See how big this is?

Sean's excellent Colonial Movers, with some of the other ships.

Wonderfest Day 3

Saturday, July 19th,2008

What a day. It starts off in the hot Kentucky sun, where we leave the hotel to the convention center. They are simultaneously holding American Idol tryouts here today, so approximately 10,000 people were in line.

It was ridiculous. That started the day off on the "weird" foot, and it never really recovered... no one was buying much today.

Very nice models inside, in the contest area. There was a 1/6th scale AT-ST!

Lotta people liking the Galactica that Sean made.

Cylon cosplayer.

Artoo was shopping.

The 501st was there, too.

Back detail on the AT-ST - I really liked it.

Maschinen Krieger goodies. I apparenly lost a skid on the Hummel. Sigh.

Cute figures on someone's 1/72nd Indiana Jones flying wing.

Johnny Quest's plane!

More Ma.K.!

And here I am corrupting the next generation of kids with Maschinen Krieger Syndrome - he really liked my power suit, and was reading all of the decals carefully... awesome.

Wonderfest Day 4

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

Quick update as I am exhausted.... here's a Frankenstein painted to look like a classic painting!

A REL Romulan Bird of Prey.

I showed Bob & Kathy Burns my super-busted Time Machine... this is basically the face he made when I told him how FedEx stiffed me.

Somehow, this picture makes it all "okay", heh.

The Crew™ from L to R - Roboterkampf, Wolvster, GKVFX, Carson Dyle, (front) JT-Graphics, Saint-G!

It was excellent to see old faces and see new ones for the first time... I look forward to next year already, and will have more to talk about on Tuesday, when I get my Bearings!

Rested up

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

Well, another WF has come and gone. The last day, I bid adeiu to Greg (who had to catch a flight at 2pm), and later that day, packed everything back up and got to bed early... Jeff, Kip, and I were up at 3:30am to head out - Kip to Ohio and Jeff and I to Baltimore.

As everyone rested in preparation for a long drive, thunderstorms rolled in... but by morning they were gone.

Once underway, we stopped for gas a couple of times, stretching our legs, grabbing food, etc.

The drive is pretty uneventful, though you occasionally see something cool up ahead...

Like a helicopter?

Cool!

Awww, bye bye Boeing!

So now I'm back home, and will start cleaning the house, rebooting the 'ol basement for the next round of stuff, and relaxing!!

Milky Way Arrival

Monday, July 28th, 2008

Lisa got a big 'ol box in the mail from Japan this weekend.

Hey! It's her new "Milky Way Sugar" Blythe doll!

Here she is, presenting the 1/48th Season 4 Cylon Raider.

Simon was not amused. He's a messy eater. Sheesh.

We got a new mirror at work.

I made sure to have my fun.
