Tanks for the memories.

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

Long time readers (ie - the people I directly know, who already know this story) will remember the too-big-for-the-room TV that I got by making some models for a fella, back in 2005. Well, it was a DLP tv which uses a bulb to project the image, and the bulb finally blew. Since new bulbs are so expensive, and because it seemed like a temporary fix/band-aid/throwing good money after bad (I love a good idiom), we opted for a newer better faster sharper TV. It's smaller, but 1080p, which knocks your socks on your fucking asses when you watch something in HD! I also finally got the Xbox 360 programmed into the remote, so finally we are able to watch TV/DVR, play games, and watch movies with one remote across the board. It's a small victory in the grand scheme of things, but it feels awesome.

The best part? It's paid for already, with some new freelance that I will begin shortly!

Also, I replaced the vent fan system in the upstairs bathroom, and it works wonders with the steam situation.

Currently enjoying a "The Smiths" revival in iTunes.

END TRANSMISSION!

Six years and a couple of days 'n stuff.

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

A little over six years ago, I went on a date with the woman that I am now lucky enough to spend the rest of my life with. Since we met, we've seen and done some amazing things (touted in the links on your left), and I can't wait to see what else we get to do together. She is equal parts patient and hilarious, which are both essential in putting up with/living with me. I'm the luckiest nerd in the damn world.

I took her to the Lucky Inn to celebrate. Hot tea!

Hook a brother up!

Also, the Falke has arrived! Masa has been waiting 25 years for this kit... I've only been waiting about 10!

Lunadiver work continues... it may look like a strange lump here, but it's going to really come together this week.

Last Friday night, we went to a Japanese restaurant with the Wynns - Lisa had buffet :)

At Target, while waiting for ladies to get their supplies, I noticed how much these palettes look exactly like WWI Lozenge Patterns. Does thinking that mean I'm one step away from a huge gut, suspenders, a train conducters hat, and a distrust of teenagers? Am I now an old man?

We ended the evening with coffee, and then teared up duing the BSG finale. Well, tears anyway. I watched it again on Saturday with Jonathan, while I put Falke bits together. I will miss the Rag Tag Fleet so goddamn much, but it went out on top, as far as I was concerned. No "Season 9 of the X-Files" to leave a sour note in the mix... all the same, knowing there will never be another episode has me in a slight funk.

Yesterday we went to lunch with Lisa's sister at House of Kabob, down the street!

New camera!

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

My new camera has arrived - it's a Leica D Lux 4. It's ridiculously nice... I'm still figuring out what it does, exactly - besides take amazing shots, out of the box!

Pictures with very natural coloring, and subjects that benefit the wide angle lens... see all that shitty yard?

Hello, my pretty!

I'm a big fan of the macro shots.

Cleaned the house today, so I took some pics while things were in an unnatural state of array.

Pixies dvd helped me clean.

Rainy today, but still bright enough to feel slightly cheery.

So much Ikea...

We had an awesome dinner with John and Libby, at the Indian place off of Joppa... the hookah sign cracked me up. They then watched the BSG miniseries (part one) with us, which was a treat. Everyone looked so young!!
