Catch Up with a Countdown to Wonderfest

Monday, May 11th, 2009

Man oh man, how the time flies sometimes.

The rain came... and didn't leave for WEEKS, which left our backyard looking like a thick angry soup.

It started to stagnate and smell ("huzzah!" he exclaimed sarcastically), so I pumped the water out.

To unwind, I started building a Battlestar Galactica Prison Barge/Astral Queen studio replica.

I'll get back on it as time permits!

All the while, the rain fell....

I finished the Lunadiver pattern work, and sent it to be cast - I get my castings this coming weekend, at Wonderfest!!!

Coco, meanwhile, avoided the camera as best she could.

Hey! What's this? We came home from work about a week ago, and the backyard had been filled in! Amazing!

Coco watched the back porch with nervous hesitation...

Lisa and I played Scrabble.

I painted a 1/72nd Y-Wing model for a friend.

This past Friday night, we went with the Wynn's to the Golden West cafe - it was awesome as always.

I love the decor as much as the food.

Saturday we cleaned the house, where I discovered a weird area (previously hidden by furniture) where it seems as though water had damaged the wall. I scraped the paint away, and am now monitoring the area to see if it gets wet again. Hooray for home ownership!

Lisa and I went to Annapolis to take my mom to Chris' Charcoal Pit for Mother's Day. We stopped by Art Things, where Jonathan and Emily showed off Captain Coke. Yarrrr.

We put our new gas grill through it's paces yesterday, cooking 'wursts for Lisa's family!

Oh and hey - vegetable gardens! Grass seed has been laid as well.

Weißwersts and Bratwursts, handmade from our local German deli.

They cooked well!

See?

Later, Pie for dessert, again from the local bakery. We have discovered AMAZING local food vendors within walking distance since we started exploring the neighborhood.

So yeah, Wonderfest... almost ready! Pew pew!

Jeff, Mike, Mike, and I hit the road at 5 am to Louisville... so while I'm on the road, click here for live from-my-iPhone updates!

Rested!

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

Well, back from Wonderfest and a prop party! It's been one heck of a busy two weeks! Wonderfest was amazing!

From tiny Vipers...

to enormous Vipers!!

You know you must be having a good time when you don't even care that there's a Six Flags across the street, right?

Looks like a giant chocolate bunny in some random neighborhood in Louisville...

Here's most of the gang, at Jeff and Kip's table:

George was showing off his BSG Ring Ship!!!

Sean C and Mike S tried White Castle burgers for the first time. I abstained. They came back to haunt them later...

Here's my Ma.K. stuff on the contest table:

And someone's lovely AFS!

This Enterprise had a great pearlescent paint job:

Kylwell's Falke!

Great Vanship model... so lovely:

Alien Warrior in action:

On the drive back (eleven hours in the car), Jeff and I saw a woman driving erratically in front of us - she was TEXTING while driving. This crap should be illegal. She was going to cause an accident!!

Speaking of, we stopped off in Accident MD for gas!

And that was WF!

Once home, Lisa showed me her foot status (having had that picture frame fall on it) - this was her foot at the most "Zombie-like" stage!

We put the compost bins together.

Bins in action!!

Lisa's amazing garden adventure continues...

Beans started to appear!

My Lego-themed shirts arrived, but were misprinted, so the company is re-doing them!

See how the ink was doubled up? They weren't happy with that.

"Lemmy" the lemon tree continues to thrive!

And look! Just 24 hours later the beans were going crazy!

After catching up with sleep and house work, I started in on the first Lunadiver casting - cleaning and getting ready to build.

And we grilled over this past weekend, and had Jonathan and Bekah over! Look - Naan!!

Lunadiver as of last night. Bang pow!
