Mercenaries Figure Set A
Allegiance: Mercenary Army
1/20 Kit currently in production from Hasegawa, available from HobbyLink Japan.
I am pleased to offer a review of the Maschinen Krieger Mercenaries Figure Set A (Cold District Maintenance Soldiers), as currently produced by Hasegawa and obtainable from HobbyLink Japan (click the link above). The kit is the first Hasegawa figure release, and features three men and one woman. The three men are re-interpretations of a resin Wonderfestival release as seen in the Ma.K. Encyclopedia publication, and the female is a reworking of a Wonderfestival figure which was an interpretation of a fan-made sculpt!
The box art, as always, is a triumph! Yokoyama-san's art is wonderful, and the faces on two of the figures/paintings are of the Wright brothers!

Lincoln and Travis are even thanked on the back of the box. Such a thrill for them!

Continuing the cool "pictures on the inner box spine", you get two views of the tool set, assembled and painted.

Here are the contents of the box - two tan colored sprues, one green sprue, decals (for the figures and Falke!), camo card, and instructions.

The instructions are well thought out and easy for the Gaijin to follow.

The green sprue contains all of the tools, which Ma.K. fans have been dreaming of for years!!

This sprue contains one of the men and the female figure.

The other two men are included on the other tan sprue.

The decals feature some new graphics, the return of the egg fella, and some great smaller iterations that might make for good patches on jackets!

A comparison of the styrene standing cold weather soldier/worker to the resin WF figure shows a more realistic drape/hang to the fabric.

And I must say, the styrene face is FAR more attractive than the resin one.

The crouching fella in styrene versus resin (the styrene cap is a separate piece).

As seen above, the fabric drapes a bit more realistically, and is streamlined.

Here we come to a personal favorite! First made as a one-off by Hirata-san of Suzi Syndicate, the figure was originally called Lt. Clarice. The standing version (which I have pictured below) was made by Jo.K. for Wonderfestival, She is named Lt. Crystal. Obviously, the Hasegawa woman is meant to represent this Crystal/Clarice. I think? LOL... come to think of it, Clarice was Strahl. Who knows. She's cute.

And again, her clothing has been modified and scaled to a more believable level. Looks like she let her hair grow!

HIGHLY recommended set!
Next up - building and painting!
