Maintenance Worker "B"
Allegiance: Mercenary Army

1/20 Kit currently in production from Brick Works, available from HobbyLink Japan.

I am pleased to offer a review of the Maschinen Krieger Maintenance Worker "B", as currently produced by Brick Works and obtainable from HobbyLink Japan (click the link above). The kit is the latest in a wave of figure releases, each packaged in bag with header card. This particular figure is standing with a clip board, hair in a pony tail, in what appears to be a pair of coveralls.

So let's start with the package. This is what you get - four pieces of immaculately cast resin, full color header card, and monochromatic card stock insert. I'd like to draw your attention to the white-on-clear "Kow" sticker that has been placed on the baggie. This is your #1 indication that the figure is licensed and legit!

On the package back, you get some writing (I was honored to be asked to contribute to the English portion of the text, prior to it's release). By looking underneath the baggie you will find a full color photo of the finished figure painted by Ihara Genzso-san, as it appeared in a recent issue of Model Grephix Magazine. It's an invaluable aid in color and "vibe"!

Each resin piece has a pour stub that needs to be removed, but there is virtually no flash or bubbles, and only the faintest bit of seam lines. A real stunner, with crisp and defined detail.

Once cleaned and primed, all of the pieces were given a coat of primer. Believe it or not, but the entire figure can be temporarily assembled simply by pressure fitting the pieces together. The sculpt itself is astounding, with accurate human proportions and a natural relaxed pose.

The face is Asian, but with a touch of general European-ness, so the painter might be able to nudge the final figure into any number of nationalities with some judicious use of color.

Once again, all of the women in Maschinen Krieger seem to be possess certain LARGE assets...

Speaking of décolletage, the parts break down is logical and appreciated. The chest, head, and neck simply slot into the upper torso, and will allow the paint work to go very easily, as the beaks occur along fabric "seams"!

The ponytail plugs into the back of the head as well.

Here is a fun touch - the soles of the feet have tread!

And anyone that has ever taken life drawing classes will see that the sculptor payed attention to the weight of the figure at rest, with a proper stance and hip shift. It truly is a remarkable figure and I look forward to painting her up soon!

So really, that just leaves that monochromatic-print insert... it's a box! And papers for her clipboard!

Once assembled, you have a Bomvol and Zionel box for all of your MaK diorama needs!
