PKA Ausf G Gustav

Released in '84. Kit #5
List Price: 900

There is a 1/20th kit available from Nitto.

There was a 1/12th Pro-A kit available via the (one day only) 2004 Winter Wonderfest in Japan, making it virtually impossible to get, even for the Japanese.

Mr. Yokoyama wrote in HJ magazine, "Emphsized the power in its form", and the design was indeed simple and yet powerful. The original model was made with a fender from a helicopter kit just like P.K.A., and also a fuel tank parts from 1/9 Zendup (a motorbyke kit) was attached to it.
In the original kit, therew was weighs in the shape of feet, but the reissued kit did not have them. If you make the kit articulated, you should use the weigh somehow to prevent falling down, but because some details were lost to give the kit articulation, you might want to consider cut articulated parts and add some customization for the lost details and made the kit in a fixed pose. If you make it fixed, then weighs would not be needed anyway. Interior of the shell, at the back, is hollow, so, you would better add some details in there. Also, the arms and legs are a bit too angular, so, you would better trim them down a bit. You can leave seams in upper arms because they look like mold lines, but other seams should be erased.

The PKA Ausf G was built by the Strahl in response to the Mercenary Force's development of the Super AFS (SAFS), which was superior to the PKA H in armor and firepower. The Gustav's laser arm was backwards engineered from a captured SAFS. This added weight to the design, resulting in the need for reinforcement of the legs, etc.

The engine needed to be stronger to propel the heavier suit (and perhaps the higher consumption of power for weapons).

With minor modification, the PK.41 Hornisse could house a Gustav, with the designation PK.43. These flew at the end of 2885.
