PzSphw Oskar There is a 1/20th kit available from ModelKasten (with Nitto parts included). In October of 2885 the Strahl were rapidly converting their Earth-bound forces to be completely AI. At this point they had won "Operation Superhammer" and were in control of Space, but knew the conflict with the Mercenary Forces would continue. they knew that they must continue to develop unmanned weapons to consolidate and secure their power. They knew the Kröte was a successful design. The "Weapons Division of the Strahl Defense Forces Headquarters" wanted a new vehicle that would match the Kröte's armament and defensive capabilities, but improve it's scouting range, effectiveness, and mission duration. Their Engineering Division mated the successful Neuspotter "brains" with the Nutrocker/hover technology "body". The more expensive but silent Neuspotter carrier system was abandoned for the greater payload capabilities that would allow heavier armament, which could be built for roughly 1/3rd the cost. This met the combat/recon requirements - stealth was not in the criteria. From the translated German box-text: "15 prototypes were built and tested, and following testing the type entered mass production in nearly record time. Protected by 100mm of hardened armor and 20mm of hybrid super ceramics, it was armed with a twin 40mm rocket tube with auto loader, and named "Oskar." 10 prototypes and 50 secondary prototypes went into service in North American and Australia in October of 2885, but the low dependability of the auto-loader mechanism led to the development and deployment of a heavier armed version mounting a linear gun." |
